We are very happy to announce accredited courses in Applied Equine Behaviour! The first of these courses will be run at The Welsh College Of Horticulture in November 2008

Whether you choose to have private lessons, shared lessons, half day full day or to join us on a course ………….the objectives and values stay the same:

To promote an understanding of innate horse behaviour and its application to training.

Over the last decade there has been a major shift in the horse world globally, owners now want to be more informed and want more options. There is a desire to take more responsibility for the mental, emotional and physical well being of their horse. There is a phenomenal interest in horse behaviour and how it can be used in training.

Rio Barrett, Lynn Henry and I have developed these courses because we share the vision that horse ownership and training should be safe, ethical, fun and rewarding and available to all through both privately and through the education system so as to be fully inclusive. We want to see people achieve their goals and get the results they want at home and in their chosen field of competition and for the experience to be as good for the horse as it is for the human.

We are in the process of developing partnerships with equine centres in England and will update the website with more news on this as it progresses.

March 2009

As in 2008 we will again be running a sequential series of courses that will follow the structure and curriculum content of the accredited courses, each of these courses is divided into modules of 3 and 4 days.

You can study any course at the appropriate level for you, please contact us to discuss your needs and goals. Prior experience and learning will be assessed to make sure you are on the right course for you and your horse.

As we develop partnerships with OCN (Open College Network) centres in England, you will be able to take the formal assessment to gain recognition of your achievement through this national awarding body (assessment is currently available in Wales through Welsh College of Horticulture (www.wcoh.ac.uk)

Taking formal assessment will be entirely optional and the course content remains the same either way.

For those who do not want the accredited award you can be assessed informally for each of the courses up to and including Level 3 and if you reach the required standard you will receive a Certificate of Achievement in the form of an AEB Diploma.

There will be several courses running in 2009 in different venues which will enable you to take the modules where and when you can. Completion of them all will form the basis of endorsement to teach some Applied Equine Behaviour courses in the future.
