Field Consultations

A field consultation starts with me requesting a full case history of horse and human before visiting the yard. I read through this to look for patterns and missing links so that on arrival I have some thoughts and ideas. Once at the yard I ask the owner to take me to the field where we will watch and discuss herd dynamics and then I will see the horse human relationship re being caught and brought to the yard. During this time I will observe the horse for any movement or behaviour that seems inconsistent with the task.

Once back at the yard I will ask to see the horse groomed and to have his feet picked up rugged and un-rugged (if appropriate)… yes it is surprising what can be seen in these basic tasks! Then I ask for in-hand and depending on the situation, perhaps longing and or ridden work.

At the end of the consultation I will have enough information to give the owner clarity around what is going on and we then make a four week achievable plan of action to help get the relationship back on track, raise confidence in both horse and human so that a future can be created that is safe and rewarding for both. Allow 1.5 to 2 hours at the yard.

Phone Consultations

It has proved really useful to many of my clients who are too far away for a yard visit to talk through what is happening (or perhaps not happening!) either through a video link or a phone call. In many cases the problems have been resolved by just talking through the situation, for others the solution is found by typing out a full background and recognising a pattern or a missing link. Other times it is by following my suggestions to spend time observing certain patterns and behaviours of both the horse and themselves or by the coaching I’ve given them during the call.

If the solution has not been found and the situation resolved through the phone consultation (and it usually is), then we can look at a video coaching consultation as seen below.

Video Coaching

This is now such an easy option! Yes, even for those of us who do not find technology easy, I’ve kept this simple for me and for you.

Book a phone consultation with me to find out what you want to learn, what your goals are, what you would like help with. It might in hand, ridden, liberty, trailer loading, de-sensitising to scary object, how to prepare for a horse agility day. Once we have made discussed what you want help with then we make a plan for the videos you will send in.

4/5 minute videos are ideal and can be sent easily via the phone. I watch the video several times and then write up my coaching feedback as well as talk to you on the phone/video whilst we are both watching the video. This means you have been coached with me talking to you as well as writing it down for you as well as sharing the visual with you, the 3 main coaching areas are fulfilled! I charge by the hour and 3 x 5 minute videos usually take the hour.

Horse Agility

I offer Horse Agility throughout Sussex and also on the Surrey/Kent/Hampshire borders. The cost is dependent on where you are an how many people on the yard are interested. A ballpoint price is £25 p.p. in a group of 4 for 45 min training session x 2 training sessions. I.e. 8 people interested. Please forward your yard address or post code for a price structure. If you are really close to me in Ditchling, West Sussex then I am available for smaller groups.

Costs

Field Consultation: Very good value at £145 which includes the initial phone call and your full case history and up to 2 hours at your yard. A further hour is spent preparing a bespoke training program to cover you for 4 weeks. Please note that this cost is within a radius of 20 miles from BN6 8UQ and does not include travel cost.

Phone Consultation: These consultations are valuable and time well spent and very affordable at just £45 which includes one hour of phone time as well as reading the full background on yourself and your horse being read by me before the call and a written summary being sent from our phone call.

 Video Coaching: Your first introductory session with me includes a phone consultation and is priced at £65 which includes your first 1 hour of video coaching. Thereafter the video coaching is charged at £35 an hour.

Private Shared and Group Lessons
