Le Trec

Some Le Trec pics

The fastest growing equine sport in the U.K. if not the world, and it is hardly surprising, what a brilliant idea!

It consists of a control of paces through a narrow corridor, you canter as slow as you can over a minimum of 50 metres and then turn and walk back as fast as you can. Break gait or go over the corridor marking and you lose all possible points on that segment! And how annoying is that, it stopped me from coming 2nd in my first Trec this year! The second segment is a set of obstacles ranging from L-shaped poles to bridges and archways and a gate to open and close preferably without letting go of it. How brilliant is that for hacking preparation. The 3rd segment is the 10 mile hack with a map, and let me tell you there is a lot more to it than that!

We are running training days in Chichester during the year on the control of paces and the obstacles. Oakwood Horsemanship is now the proud owner of a bridge and an archway to Trec specifications and so we have the complete obstacle selection to work through. Please see calendar of events for dates.

ConcentrateHere are some pics of Morgan proving how possible it all is if you train properly!

(please note that the archway is set quite high as we were still perfecting this one!)
